Updated - Include - the imprisonment of "BIRD" (Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy) operative Abdul Raof al-Shayeb, 51, who was sentenced in December 2015 to five years by a court in East London. Shayeb was convicted of terrorism charges after police found a cache of material on his computer, which included military files on bombs, missiles, and destruction, as well as images of him wearing army clothes. Some of the material was found when Shayeb was stopped four months ago at Gatwick Airport after arriving on a flight from Baghdad.
A British court yesterday sentenced a Bahraini fugitive to 12 years of imprisonment for sexually assaulting minors. Qassim Al Hashemi had repeatedly attacked Bahrain and other GCC countries through hostile media platforms. He is a member of the dissolved Bahrain Human Rights Centre, headed by Nabeel Rajab, who’s now in custody in Bahrain for security related cases. The paedophile Al Hashemi had been given asylum in the UK. He was also accused of coordinating with leaders of armed sectarian militias in Iraq to mastermind terror attacks in Bahrain and destabilise other GCC countries.
Bahrain - living with media flatulence
Is a “case of the grumps” joining the ranks of grumpy old men a matter of choice in ones old age? Is it to be expected as inevitable as creaking joints, grey hair and wrinkles? The later two one can live with but coming to terms with the time it now takes to get up out of an armchair, trust me is a bummer. You certainly grasp time is no longer on your side when you realize that the hot flushes of your youth have not diminished but have been replaced by pleasurable bouts of flatulence brought on by last night’s sprouts. Old age we are told brings power to your armchair, more time to watch, read and listen but no one mentions sorting out ones gut instincts first. I find it odd that now in my dotage I have had to move media to that section of my brain, to the box marked WTF. Sanity dictates that if I am to age gracefully, to overcome my malaise, my case of the grumps I will have forgo watching or reading what is profanely called the news these days, even though it carries no health warnings.
It is not the instantaneous nature of the “New” media that bugs me far from it. It is the replacement in mainstream media of objectivity by intolerance, and of fact by opinion and hearsay. Am I the only one stuck in a chair passing wind watching true investigative journalism expire; no longer required, a product labeled past its sell by date. Is the truth no longer valid simply because it takes time to acquire, in comparison to the immediacy of a saleable headlines, must mainstream media by necessity compete with e-media. No one is going to persuade me that what we see replacing true journalism on the box or in the press is not analogous to my cramp easing bouts of flatulence and the price of sprouts on the commodities markets.
How did we reach a point where the opinionated expert, half-witted pundits or activist, trolling allegations, speculation and misinformation packaged as a pale reflection of the truth, can be passed off as being informed; that they are the bearer of the news, are the news. Should we sit back and simply accept Birmingham UK as a no-go area and make excuses for Jihadi John; he was after all according to “CAGE” a UK advocacy group, a Beautiful man. So beautiful in fact they saw nothing wrong in his twisted and warped actions of butchering people.
The failure of CAGE to condemn the man or his actions, the airing in response to his outing of their own manipulative commentary was in the case of Jihadi John a case of buck passing at its worst. Blame everybody except the man, his ideology and that of those mentoring him. CAGE was exposed as at worst an apologist for terrorists but just as likely, a front for the same. Similarly for the opposing view I also resent being constantly reminded, of seeing it argued in response to such threats of terror, how virtuous the West is. Really, come on, open the media window let some fresh air in – we are free yes but does that give us consequently the right to take action outside the law as we please in the elimination of any that disagree. That is the argument of the terrorist not free men. I pause while I listen to a bee in my garden droning away.
Remember when the Ukraine crisis first hit the news, the high or low spot, depending whether your blood was Russian red or US red, white and star spangled blue, was about American interference. About a nosy parker from the US State Department, one Assistant Secretary Victoria Nuland chatting to the US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt. No slight of hand here, this was no game of poker or reality game show, it was one of wholesale monopoly, “how to sellout Ukraine’s future.” People rights, hopes, and aspirations gone in the time it took to say American interests, but did mainstream media consider such blatant interference as unpardonable. As with Nuland and her cookies remember a guy called Ludivic Hood passing out doughnuts to demonstrators in February 2011 here in Bahrain - don't recall the event then visit one of my very first attempts at social media reporting, http://fredwillie.newsvine.com/_news/2011/05/01/6565077-bahrain-an-american-marines-blog-old-but-priceless
Today media stories on Ukraine are all about sanctioning the nominated bad guy Putin, of damming Russian support for Russian separatists, and would your believe, of outrage at “Russia interference”. A bugged or buggered Victoria Nuland forgotten, no more now than a google link in the fabric of e-time. The innocence of the truth now corruptible by perception and image after all, who is going to trust the other guy; he is a leader we are told, who bares his chest in public sitting on a white horse at his press conferences on a weekly basis. Are journalist so blind, struggling to open a can of beans with a missing ring pull, that they have truly forgotten how to use a can opener. Is no one digging, asking how many other Nuland’s retain a stirring hand in the witch’s brew of deniable facts to be belched out by news anchors, pen pushers, pundits and experts, same argument only one point of momentary view.
ISIS is or IS isn’t, whichever try using Daesh; depending on your pick of pundit, expert or channel they most likely are a tool of the west trained and armed by the CIA, but if you prefer, so to allow media Islamophobics a chance to grow their column inches, also funded by the Arab States. Long gone, even forgotten is the US and West’s older preference for backside armchair intransigence, of encouraging the arming of proxies to confront Assad. A big no to boots on the ground, remember those days red lines and all. These days even suggestioning that as a minimum, such a western foreign policy created the vacuum that allowed Daesh to appear overnight, in the time it took to say Islamic State and Caliphate, is likely to get you put on a no fly list.
Billions spent on spying and military intelligence, Uncle Sam caught with his pants down yet again, really! Media investigative journalism on western duplicity successfully reduced to the realm of the conspiracists. Assad’s war crimes suppressed as no longer newsworthy. Why worry or lose any sleep, it is only innocent civilians, men women and children that have died as a consequence! Is this daily carnage really the lesser of two evils? The destruction by Assad of a nation is now forgotten out staged by the theatrical atrocities of Daesh simply because they provide better Hollywood moments, grander more outlandish headlines. Preferred because they make it easier to maintain the momentum of Islamophobia and placing the blame squarely on Sunni Islam and the Arabs for the rise of Bin Laden, the Taliban, Afghanistan, the Iraq invasion and 9/11? No American, CIA or other fingers in any of these pies of course, but excuse me if I pass some more wind.
Missing in the press or on the box, the connectivity or linkage to Shia Iran and the Ayatollahs despite evidence to the contrary, the latest surfacing in the US at the trial of Abid Naseer. No one seems bothered by missile tests even the playing of war games destroying life size floating models of the US President’s extension of power in the Gulf or statements made declaring an aim to wipe of the face of the map other nations. No instead we are told by Susan Rice Iran remains America’s best friends in the Middle East. I think she must have a case of flatulence worse than I. No one seems bothered as to how she came to that amazing conclusion. Where is the media? Has anybody ever asked when in Iran, if glum and dumber John Kerry visits his family connections, I know given the chance I would. As to po-faced limelight loving Ashton, what a joke, protracted negotiations remain the only way for her to embellish her political fortunes, the description “Lame Duck” applies not only to American Presidents. The future of the Middle East in these people’s hands, God help us all, no wonder I have indigestion. Maybe it’s not just the sprouts.
According to this alliance of silly faces we are being bored into accepting that half a bomb is better than a whole, anything else is not in the best interests of the West. Am I alone or am I sitting on a whoopee cushion as the air around my chair thickens and carpets the entire room. Browse the Internet, Iran in the meantime has imprisoned, hanged and flogged people at a rate that makes all others seem moderate. Iranian proxies, the Iraqi Shia militias and Hezbollah assist Assad; commit atrocities in Iraq and Syria on a par with Daesh. Look for analysis of such news; it is necessary to return to the realm of the conspiracists. I don’t remember any announcement to the effect that there is a moratorium on objective or investigative journalism for mainstream media in the Middle East. If Watergate happened today it would likely be no more than a footnote in history.
In the UK this week, it was outrage, a public cringing at the defense by advocacy group CAGE of Jihadi John that got the keyboards moving again. Mind you I still wonder however had CAGE just kept quiet, would there have been an exposé at all of their true ideology. Andrew Gilligan summed them up nicely in his Telegraph article “as extremists peddling lies to British Muslims to turn them into supporters of terror… highlighting the problem of militant groups freely propagating the myth of Muslim persecution”.
Yet weekly we in little Bahrain have to suffer in the western media similar outpouring of bile from so-called rights groups and extremist activists in a similar fashion to that spouted by CAGE but alas with no recourse to a reply. Neatly repackaged, resold for publication as fact to mass media, aided and abetted by the American MEPI program and their current preference for promoting Iranian interests in the world. One has to ask why does nobody open the doors to check for connectivity or linkage to Shia Iran; is it because politicians no longer want to offend their best friend in the Middle East.
John Legend visits Bahrain and out pop the poison pens, why he is he performing in the most draconian country in the world, what utter nonsense but reported by mainstream media as fact. Prime mover Dr Ala’a Shehabi of Bahrain Watch, daughter of proven Iranian agent exposed by the Evening Standard many years ago, Dr. Saeed Shehabi. A man once accused of being part of a plot to kill Salman Rushdie. Further closer scrutiny by mainstream media surely is required, both he and I have passed lot of wind since August 2011 and the Evening Standard. Phony activists CAGE could take lessons from Shehabi. Then there is BIRD UPDATE - among their ranks one would have found Abdul Raof al-Shayeb, 51, WHO was sentenced to five years in prison by a court in East London.
But then lets not forget Nabeel Rajab, with his web of deceit and network of lies, a man with more skeletons in the cupboard than Jimmy Saville. His Al Khawajah inspired network has spawned in the UK, the above mentioned Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy (BIRD) and in Demark, the European-Bahraini Organization for Human Rights (EBOHR). There are more; all populated and staffed by familiar names , a family of instigators of the coup attempt in 2011, all supporters of the Iranian revolution, most prominent among those being Jawad, Mushaima, and Daif's and of course the family of the originator of the network, the infamous Al Khawajah.
These groups, these individuals are a front for terrorism, for groups that are directly responsible for the murder of 19 policemen and nearly as many civilians in Bahrain since 2011, euphemistically called the Youth of February14, locally we prefer Hezbollah Bahrain.Yet read or listen to the news according to Nabeel Rajab, all protesters in Bahrain are peaceful.
My stomach churns, goes into overdrive each time I see the western media suck up to this man. For anybody that is interested in the real Nabeel Rajab they might think to address a comment or two in the direction of his cousin Sameera Rajab who was until recently Minister of Information. Think I am exaggerating then read the views of Samira Rajab on the integrity of our friend Nabeel Rajab - http://fredwillie.newsvine.com/_news/2015/04/16/32469221-dear-president-obama-i-am-samira-rajab-cousin-to-nabeel-rajab-a-woman-from-bahrain
That would be a real eye-opener. Someone might also like to ask him why he doesn't condemn the violence or include people of other sects or of different ethnicity in his representations on rights. Pause - Wait for A CAGE moment in reply.
The similarities to CAGE and the modus operandi of Rajab and his groupies are astounding, both have been whitewashing terrorism for years while they claim to be advocacy groups. They are certainly not. When Bush and Blair invaded Iraq the chief provider of intelligence on the bogus stockpiles of “Weapons of Mass Destruction” was one Ahmed Chalibi or the employer of “CURVEBALL”. Chalibi was a wealthy corrupt Iraqi Shia with direct access to Tehran and the Ayatollahs, Chalibi had also forged close links to then Vice-President Dick Cheney and many top civilians at the Pentagon, such as Paul Wolfowitz, Douglas Feith, and William J. Luti.
Chalabi was finally exposed as a fraud after the invasion (see below) yet no one seems worried or concerned that Nabeel Rajab the angle of democracy openly courts Ahmed Chalibi, a man with blood, the lives of millions on his hand as a close friend and associate. Chalabi is more than just another skeleton in Rabab’s closet he is someone that funds and opens the door directly to the Ayatollahs, Hezbollah and Iraqi Militia besides in Syria, Assad himself.
From an article by Jane Mayer “The Manipulator” published in the New Yorker in June 2004.
“A raid on Chalabi’s home was authorized by the White House, as was a recent decision, by the Defense Department, to eliminate an I.N.C. stipend of three hundred and forty-two thousand dollars per month. Chalabi’s allies at the Pentagon were not notified of the raid in advance, although some knew that it was under consideration. The raid took place amid allegations that Chalabi or other members of the I.N.C. had engaged in numerous misdeeds, including embezzlement, theft, and kidnapping. After Baghdad police began investigating these charges, several of Chalabi’s top lieutenants fled Iraq. One of them, Aras Karim Habib, the I.N.C.’s intelligence chief, escaped just before the serving of an arrest warrant. He is under investigation for passing classified U.S. government information to Iran—a member of what President Bush calls “the axis of evil.” According to a Chalabi aide, the I.N.C. has heard that it will be accused of telling Iran’s intelligence service that the U.S. had cracked one of its internal codes. Chalabi has denied any wrongdoing, and claims that the spying charge is politically motivated.”
Without wanting to sound sectarian, it is fair to point out that, all those involved in the media onslaught against Bahrain as represented by these groups, are Shia all with family links that lead firmly back to Iraq and Iran. Their outpourings, similar to those of CAGE are widely believed yet seldom contested, they target Bahrain mainly online through the group’s close links to many other advocacy and rights groups, universities and Shia Islamic societies such as those run by Dr. Saeed Shehabi in London.
So next time you read an article on Bahrain quoting an activist who claims to represent “My” people ask of him or her, if the “My” people includes
- Any from the vast majority who voted in the last years general election and elected 40 MP’s nearly all independent of political and Islamic societies to represent them.
- MP's who despite the threats of violence and intimidation from those boycotting the elections, stood firm, took part.
- If they speak for any of these new MP’s enjoying parliamentary life that is now more vibrant than ever as they take the lead on the government program and budget.
- Those that didn't support recent calls to protest and strike to celebrate FEB14 and if they are aware that only a few people huddled behind militia barricades in a villages suffered the indignity of having to comply.
To conclude come visit Bahrain have a look yourself millions do, BEFORE you pass judgement, before you put pen to paper or if you meet any of the people mentioned, hear them say that they represent the people of Bahrain. Visit and you will find out just how manipulative they are. May you should also ask them if they are aware that during the weekend of St Valentines day the real people of Bahrain all 1.4 million simply went shopping or celebrated it with the family.
- except that is me, --- as usual I had to visit the pharmacist looking for indigestion tablets to aid my flatulence.
