Once again I have had to resurrect this old story;
It is the sad tale in unknown circumstances, of the death of a young boy, Sayyed Ahmad Saeed Shams here in Bahrain in 2011. It is a case in which one has to say that, the activists trying to manipulate the facts surrounding the boys death show no humanity, no limit to the bounds of their depravity. Their moral corruption is so complete, that they have no compunction in twisting the facts further to advance exclusively their warped aims, this time intent on adding further venom to stories related to a bid for the FIFA presidency of Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al Khalifa's from Bahrain.
In yesterdays Huffington post Dooley Director, Human Rights First's Human Rights Defenders Program wrote
FIFA, Man United, and Torture in Bahrain Posted: 10/27/2015 12:46 pm EDT Updated: 10/27/2015 1:59 pm EDT
This is not the first time Dooley has manipulated this sad story of Shams death, he did so back in 2013 on the occasion of a visit to Bahrain by Manchester United legend Denis Laws, to read PLEASE see Dooley's article via the Huffington Post in 2013;
Manchester United, Denis Law, and Torture by the Bahrain Regime Posted: 04/09/2013 5:54 pm EDT Updated: 06/09/2013 5:12 am EDT
In the 2013 telling of the story which also featured Dr Fatima Haji
According to Dooley
" Ahmed was hit by a "sound bomb" cartridge on the back of his head. He continued running, but was caught and beaten by the police. His father took him to a relative's house and then to the American Mission hospital. While being examined by a doctor, his family says security troops came and took him to the main Salmaniya Hospital, where he died, still wearing a Manchester United shirt.”
Dr George Cheriyan CEO/Chief Medical Officer at the American Mission Hospital when contacted stated when this twisted story was circulated in 2013.
"It is really shameful to see a statement by Brain Dooley quoted above as factually correct. My statement given on the 19th of April (2011) is the truth, He was dead on arrival (at American Mission Clinic Saar) and there were no marks of torture or beating but the single bruise as was recorded."
I should imagine the examination of the boy involved taking his clothing off given the circumstances however Dooley is not the first to try and manipulate this boys death, for that we must jump back to 2011 and to the Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) in their
Action Alert: Bahrain – 15 year old Manchester United fan killed by Bahraini security services Saturday, 16 April 2011 02:44
They report the following QUOTE
"the boy was murdered by Bahraini security forces while playing football outside his home. He was ruthlessly gunned down by military personnel and that ‘his father told IHRC that his son was killed in a very narrow passage. Security men intentionally had gone there and shot him with a rubber bullet in his eye and hit him with a pistol grip on his neck, causing a break in the neck. The father also said, “I picked him up and I could hear him breathing in pain. He took his last breath and then he did not breathe again. He died in my arms”… Ahmad’s body was taken to the hospital but the hospital authorities did not write the actual cause of the boy’s death for fear of repression from the regime."
again contradicting the receiving medics report at the American Mission Hospital Clinic in SAAR
Dr George Cheriyan CEO/Chief Medical Officer at the American Mission Hospital when contacted stated in a Statement given on the 19th of April 2011
‘This young boy was brought dead to our Saar clinic; no accompanying people could give the physicians who attended him an exact cause of how he was found. He had no heart beat and CPR was commenced and I was notified as the CMO of the hospital. As his pupils were fixed and dilated and with no response to CPR, resuscitation was discontinued and his death was certified as dead on arrival and the police in the northern governorate informed. Other than the bruise and swelling over one of his eye no external injuries or any type of bullet wounds were noted. The body was handed over to the police for autopsy. The cause of death could not be determined due to the lack of a history from any witness or from the absence of any other injury other than the swelling over the eye.’
‘The clinic at Saar which is just a primary care clinic has no way of ascertaining the cause of death and in no way were we subject to any outside pressure not to report the cause of death. Any statements that contradict these facts are factually not true.’
The Autopsy revealed the boy had died from a broken neck in unknown circumstances, which is missing from any activists narrative. Neither do they provide a statement from those that took him to the clinic in the first place, those who knew nothing of the circumstances of his death; were they strangers or family no activist or media outlet seems to have bothered to ask. Neither do they mention the Evangelical Church American Mission Doctors who received the body. However they do use a post postmortem video taken by persons unknown of the boy in propaganda outputs that followed, contradicting claims one was not carried out.
These so called Human Rights activists seem to delight in using the death of a young boy purely to further their cause. How many ways can we kill the memory of a child well sadly beyond Dooley's account and that of the IHRC there is also an other version of how the young boy died, a video made by Iranian Press TV.
Quote from 3:10 to 3:45 mins
We were playing with some friends and a policeman came to us suddenly and started shooting us two other men who had their faces covered and joined the policeman and kept shooting bullets in our direction. We tried to run but our friend got shoot in the head and then he feinted, when he tried to recover the tear gas had already blocked his vision and it was difficult for him to breath, - HE DIED INSTANTLY.
As to the further spice given to the story by the tales of Dr Fatima Haji, there is not one shed of evidence that anything she claims is true. Quite the contrary, she claims to have sent an email to Manchester United, a factor that featured heavily according to her during her arrest and interrogation yet in her various writing admits to having conveniently deleted the email before that. Had she been tortured as claimed why was that not mentioned in the BCCI report; it covered all such cases but then to reference the BCCI report would have drawn attention to the fact that, her conduct and that of other doctors at Salmaniya Hospital was heavily criticised in the report.
Have I, did I miss something over these last few years. Are Human Right activists now permitted to abuse their position of trust, to manipulate the truth and public opinion - legitimately? I would like to know if these moral guardians now include in their list of Human Rights the Right to LIE - to lie enough times in the hope that some people will believe their warped and manipulated version of the truth. As moral guardians do they have the Right to believe that "the end justifies the means"?
But in conclusion it is the chief manipulator of this sad episode, Brian Dooley of Human Rights First for whom I reserve my scorn- I accuse him of KNOWINGLY spreading lies, of manipulating the truth and of participating in a hate campaign against Bahrain. Of knowingly spreading falsehoods by purposely twisting and manipulating the truth, the facts surrounding this boys death for personal gain. Dooley is without doubt a man with no morals and personally I have no doubt whatsoever that he has equally manipulated, even lied in his writings concerning other events that have occurred here in Bahrain.
Let poor Shams rest in peace.
